My Story
Founder and President of our Foundation is, Mary W Morris, widow of Brett J Morris. Mary was a faithful and loyal wife to Brett for nearly 21years. Mary and Brett met in August of 2000, had their 1st date September 29, 2000 and were married December 29, 2000. Her and Brett have two beautiful daughters together, Hannah Kate and Mackenzie Jo.
Mary is a lifetime member of The Nightstalker Association and through her service as a spouse of a Nightstalker, she is a Lady Night Stalker. Mary was beside Brett through every training, promotion, deployment, loss and heartache through his years while serving in the 160th, as well as his time in the US Army Reserves. She recently stepped into a volunteer position with the 3BN Nightstalkers at HAAF to help with events and family activities.
Mary created the Brett J Morris Avenger Foundation as a way to Honor her husband, continue his legacy and to join the mission to lift the stigma on mental health. In addition, her efforts are to offer support among those who suffer loss through suicide.
Mary is a previous collegiate athlete, she obtained her BS in Psychology and has been a vital role in her communities growth of Fastpitch softball. She has trained and coached hundreds of athletes in her community since 2008. Her community has lost several athletes over the years to suicide and she has seen the struggles of depression and anxiety among athletes. She, herself, faced her own struggles and attempts of suicide in her teen years as a student athlete. The rise in anxiety, depression, eating disorders and suicide are at all all time high.
Her mission and goal through this foundation is to AVENGE THE BATTLE WITHIN; to create more talk, awareness and understanding of depression, anxiety, PTSD and the mental health crisis we are facing as a whole. The rigorous demands of student athletes has risen including the added pressure that social media has brought. Through this foundation she wants to not only join the efforts with others in the military and 1st responders communities but to reach the athletic community that tends to get overlooked.
Portion of the proceeds from this foundation will be given back to athletes and their families, as well as, military and 1st responders families who face tragedies, hardships or loss from suicide.
